iOS widgets and Live Activities, built in SwiftUI

Widgets put your app on the Home Screen and Lock Screen; Live Activities put a live event on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. We build both in SwiftUI, for new apps and for apps you already have.

Who it is for

Who this is for

  • 01

Apps with something to glance at

A balance, a streak, the next booking, today’s progress: information people want without opening the app.

  • 02

    Apps with live moments

A delivery, a ride, a match, a timer: events that last minutes or hours and change as they go.

  • 03

    Cross-platform apps

Widgets and Live Activities are written in SwiftUI. If your app is in React Native or Flutter, we build them as a native extension.

What you get

What you get, and how it runs

Typical timeline: One to a few sprints.

  • 01Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets in SwiftUI
  • 02Interactive widgets with buttons and toggles
  • 03Live Activities on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island
  • 04Push updates for Live Activities through APNs
  • 05Widget configuration through App Intents
  • 06Shared data between the app and its extensions
  1. 01

    Discovery

What deserves a glance, which sizes and placements, and how fresh the data must be. A written scope and a fixed quote.

  2. 02

    Design

Every widget size and Live Activity state on Apple’s guidelines, in light and dark.

  3. 03

    Development

WidgetKit and ActivityKit in SwiftUI, with timelines, push updates and shared data, in two-week sprints.

  4. 04

    Launch

Submitted with your next app version, with review support and 30 days of support.

What makes a good widget or Live Activity

What makes a good widget or Live Activity

Both are small, both are seen constantly, and both are reviewed. These are the four rules we design by.

  • Glanceable, or nothing

A widget shows a small amount of timely, relevant information. If it needs reading, it belongs in the app.

  • Related to the app

Apple requires widgets, extensions and notifications to relate to the app’s content and functionality (guideline 2.5.16).

  • Live means live

Live Activities are for events over minutes or hours. They may not be used to spam, phish or send unsolicited messages (guideline 4.5.3).

  • Fresh enough, not constantly

Widgets update on a timeline the system manages, and Live Activities through push. We plan the update rhythm with the data, not after it.

Our own apps

  • Yes. A widget is an extension added to your app, released with your next version. We work in your codebase and your repository.
